John Spisak, CEO of SolaRover, personally arrived in New York on 15 November to help man the big SolaRover Mojave-3 hybrid unit.  SolaRover brought this generator from Indiana, first to Citi Field to help Incident Command.  Next stop was to power a gas station!  Then the unit spent the next several weeks in Rockaway Beach about a block from the ocean.

SolaRover powered a community hub for volunteers, including a medical clinic, including refrigeration, a kitchen, flood lights at night and other critical power needs... as well as charging countless cell phones and flashlights for locals.

Greenpeace, among the first of the first-responders here, set up a hot food kitchen... also powered by the SolaRover.  FEMA, Red Cross and the National Guard brought supplies, SolaRover brought the power.

SolaRover moved the unit several times to help different efforts in the Rockaway area.  Here they're at a supply effort, powering all kinds of stuff, on Thanksgiving Day.

From here the SolaRover moved to New Jersey and Sandy Hook at Fort Hancock.  SolaRover left the unit in capable hands after weeks of flawless power generation, run by many different, untrained personnel, and... well, just keeps working!

July 29, 2012:  Michael Barnes (above) rides the Lightning Electric SuperBike to victory in the third running of the ePower/TTXGP race during the 2012 MotoGP at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca.  Renewables West leased our solar generator to provide the first-ever zero-footprint charging capability to the Lightning Electric SuperBike team, sponsored by Barracuda Networks.

July 4, 2012:  Renewables West provides pure solar power to charge a new Chevy Volt.  At the same time we were powering the live broadcast and MC/DJ for KKIQ radio in San Leandro.  F H Dailey Chevrolet hosted a great Independence Day party, with local businesses, kids activities, hot rods and apple pie!

The Chevy dealer shows off their new electric line, and were able to demonstrate charging directly from our solar generator.

Our SolaRover Mojave-1 powered not only the charging unit for the Volt, it powered the live radio stage and part of the band sound stage!

Education Day:  I think it was ourselves who need to be educated!  We had fun, talked to a LOT of kids, but weren't really prepared to educate about the solar generator adequately.

Picture
Kids come in waves:  Students from classrooms all over the Bay Area experienced a special day at the Maker Faire.  Kids came in small and large groups, but were pretty orderly and well-behaved.

Picture
What we learned:  Kids LOVE anything that shoots flames -- like the Crucible flame truck here -- blows up, makes noise, plays loud music, looks totally wacky, shoots up in the air (like rockets), shoots across the compound or lights up.  If you do two or more of the above, you're GOLDEN.

We're taking another shot at funding our pilot Project ME4... and on Day One of Round Two we've raised almost $800!

You too can donate today from our website <me-4.com>.

Meanwhile we're prepping our truck and solar trailer for Maker Faire in 10 days!

We found out Friday night that we were accepted as a featured exhibitor at this year's Maker Faire, and may be able to provide power for some part of the event.  We're excited about that!  Stay tuned for more news about what we'll being doing there.  Last year there were about 90,000 people in San Mateo for the original Bay Area event.  More this year?  Come join in the fun and find out!  For more info and to purchase tickets for this amazing event, click here: Maker Faire.

We launched yesterday afternoon and are off to a good start!
